MARWEN ANNOUNCES ART FAIR 2011—AN EXHIBITION
AND FUNDRAISING EVENT BENEFITTING MARWEN’S FREE PROGRAMS
FOR UNDER-SERVED CHICAGO YOUTH
(Chicago, IL – October 3, 2011) Marwen announces its sixth annual Art Fair, a celebration, exhibition, and sale featuring approximately 150 works created by Marwen students, alumni, staff, and teaching artist. The show features a wide range of styles and media (high resolution images of work in the exhibition are available upon request). Attendees enjoy an evening of food, drink, music, and the chance to interact with the Marwen artists showing work. Artists donate half of all proceeds to Marwen’s free art programs for Chicago’s under-served young people. Lowry Hill is the presenting sponsor of Art Fair. Catering is by e.leaven Food Company. Beer is provided by Half Acre.
Art Fair is Friday, November 11, 2011 from 6:30-10:30pm in Marwen’s River North gallery space. A suggested donation of $40 includes food and drinks; $30 advance tickets available (before November 9) at Marwen.org. Marwen is located at 833 North Orleans Street, Chicago, Illinois 60610. “Marwen’s creative energy is palpable every November at Art Fair,” said Executive Director Antonia Contro. “The event is a celebration of our entire community of students, alumni, teaching artists, staff, and supporters—both long term and new friends. Founded in 1987, Marwen is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the development of Chicago’s under-served youth in grades 6–12 through free visual arts, college planning, and career preparation programs. Students from 54 of the city’s 57 zip codes and from more than 220 schools travel to Marwen, where they take classes designed and taught by practicing artists.
