Studio Art Practicum

Marwen is extending a unique opportunity for teachers who have participated in our 2010 teacher program and whose students are in grades 6 - 12. In an effort to broaden and deepen our program, we offer you the opportunity to have a Marwen teaching artist work with your students in one of our professional art studios.

Marwen will provide a special 2 - 3 hour studio art experience for 10 schools during the 2010/2011 school year. The studio experience will be derived from your Marwen teacher program, and taught by the same instructor. (For example, if you completed a digital photography course, you may apply for a group of your students and yourself to return for a similar experience in the Technology Studio. For those teachers who attend multiple Marwen programs, please select one program you would like us to consider for your students.)

For those teachers who are accepted, Marwen will:
• design a hands-on workshop related to your teacher program and relevant to your students
• meet with you to plan the 2 - 3 hour workshop
• arrange for approved CPS bus service to and from the school
• arrange substitute coverage for you
• provide all materials
• include an outreach presentation about our free after-school program for students in grades 6 - 12

The school is expected to:
• handle all permission forms
• provide additional chaperones if necessary
• select students in grades 6 - 12 who are capable of handling a 2 - 3 hour studio experience
• select a weekday morning, with earliest pick-up from the school at 9am and completed by 12 noon
• complete a short evaluation form after the experience
