Learn to apply the basic principles of machine and hand sewing—such as cord, French, and mock French seams—as you build a garment to wear. You’ll also gain knowledge of the fashion industry as a whole, from traditional to contemporary designs.

Learn about Islamic tile patterns, with their striking colors and geometric designs, to create unique tiles expressing your own message. You’ll combine a small number of repeated geometric shapes and then interlace them to decorate a large surface.

Create your personal narrative! You’ll design “windows” using digital photography and mixed media collage to illustrate the view of the inside and outside worlds of a window in your home. The “windows” will hold a combination of digital photography, published text, images, and drawings, all highlighted with your own alterations.
