Code & Create: Creative Web Design
In this course, you’ll learn how to design and build your own interactive web pages from scratch. Whether you’re making a personal portfolio, digital art, or something totally unique, you’ll explore how coding can be a powerful tool for creativity. Learn the basics of web design (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript) and discover how websites can express ideas, emotions, and stories—not just information.

Teaching Artist
Haoshu Deng (she/her) is a former META (Marwen Emerging Teaching Artist) who has grown her teaching practice to always center the youth and allow them to take leadership in their own learning. Whether it is having a final project that is adaptable to each student’s interests, or giving students choices to how they classroom norms are set, they are able to make meaningful decisions and amplify their unique perspectives. Haoshu believes that it is important to make connections between creative work and social change in her teaching and always give room for students to reflect and rethink art, media, and technology’s place in their lives. They leave the classroom not only with a new final piece to showcase, but also new ideas and understandings of themselves and their world.
