Darkroom Magic: Images & Cyanotypes
Step (carefully) into the darkroom to explore alternative black-and-white photographic processes. Through photograms, cyanotypes, and hand-coloring, experiment with light, objects, and layering to build your own visual images. Complete an original series of 4 prints using these alternative techniques.

Essence Richardson is a Chicago-based multidisciplinary artist, educator, and documentary photographer whose work centers on cultural preservation. She photographs, develops, and prints her own work by hand, and brings others into that same process through community darkrooms and youth arts programs. Essence works to provide affirming art spaces across the city where students find their voice and explore their creativity.
