Learn the art of painting a portrait with oil. Engage in portrait drawing, figurative drawing from life, and oil painting techniques. This class will focus on contemporary portrait artists and how to address issues of identity in your oil portrait meaningfully.

Gabriel Mejia (he/him) always creates a space that is rooted in anti-racist and social justice practices. In his classes, Gabriel showcases contemporary artists of color such as Kehinde Wiley or Amanda Phingbodhipakkiya who address issues like police violence, anti-immigrant hate crimes, and other current topics that will resonate with and empower the young people that he is serving.
