Brush with Greatness: Oil Painting Figures
Using live models, advance your oil painting techniques for capturing anatomy, proportion, and gesture while developing shading, color mixing, and brushwork skills. Experiment with different styles and learn to express movement, emotion, and perspective in your work as you build your portfolio. Previous oil painting experience encouraged.

Teaching Artist
Mel Cook-White (she/they) recently rejoined Marwen as a Faculty Teaching Artist working to support and build the META program. She previously worked with Marwen in 2017 as a studio facilitator and then became a teaching artist, teaching a range of painting and drawing classes including Marwen Lab until 2020. She developed programming and taught at a range of educational institutions including Sofia Quintero Art & Cultural Center, Americorps, Chicago High School for The Arts, Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, and Northwestern University. Her passion is raising awareness about gender inequality through the arts in the hopes of making the world a better place for her daughter and future generations.
