Founded in 1826, MICA is the oldest independent, continuously degree-granting college of art and design in the U.S.

Sophia Belkin is a MICA admissions counselor, and a graduate of the MICA drawing and printmaking departments. She loves working with students from across the country, and draws a lot of inspiration from her experiences with young artists. In her own studio Sophia uses dye painting, embroidery, and textile collage to create intricate paintings that reference natural processes. She has participated in artist residency programs in Wisconsin, Vermont, Norway, Russia, and Estonia. In May 2024 she completed a residency at the Joan Mitchell Center in New Orleans. Recent solo exhibitions include Slice of Water at Dinner Gallery in New York, Peeling Shadows at Ochi Gallery in Los Angeles and Ground Swell at Resort Gallery in Baltimore.
