Contracted Positions

Request for Course Proposals

Marwen is seeking exceptional practicing artists to design and teach visual arts courses for 6-12 graders from all across Chicago. We are looking for experienced Teaching Artists (TAs) with active practices aligned with the core values of creative youth development: youth voice, collective action, and social justice. We welcome proposals in all mediums, particularly ceramics, digital media, video, photography, fashion, painting, and comics.

As independent contractors, Teaching Artists have complete autonomy over their course design. They select the mediums and themes that align with their expertise and interests. Within our term schedule, they choose the times that best suit them for their courses taught in Marwen studios.

Things to keep in mind as you complete your course proposal:

  • Marwen has a high volume of middle school registrations each term
  • Marwen’s most requested middle school courses are animation, painting, drawing, ceramics, and digital photography

Summer 2026 proposal deadline: February 21, 2026
