Meet Mia Perilla: Mixed Media Explorer
Mia is a 7th grader who has already discovered so many art media by taking free art classes at Marwen! Mia has taken classes like Cameras in Action: Digital Photo, Puppet Studio: Crafting Characters, Bend It, Bead It, Wear It, and Rug Crafting: Creating Cozy Art.
“Photography is one of my favorite classes because it is such a fun class and I get to learn how to use a camera with great skills and a great teacher. “
As a photographer, Mia loves the fact that pictures can be taken of anything and everything, capturing subjects so authentically. Mia has learned how to take great quality photos, gravitating towards nature and landscape, but open to anything!
Mia has already taken 7 Marwen classes and plans to take 2 more this Spring! More photography is on the way, but oil painting is also on the horizon. With a range of art styles already experienced, Mia says:
“I can [also] crochet, knit, and sew cute stuff like plushies.”
Mia also says, when the choosing your Marwen classes, keep in mind:
“Make sure it’s something you enjoy. It has to be interesting for you. Nobody can pick your classes. It would be so fun to do something you are interested in.”
Marwen young artists bring boundless creativity and enthusiasm into the studios, and now they can submit their art and ideas to be featured around the building and on social media! Marwen’s Young Artist Spotlight series offers young people an opportunity to promote themselves and their art to the Marwen community and beyond.
Each term (Spring, Summer, and Fall), we will choose one high school and one middle school artist to feature. Young people can submit their work by completing the survey below.
