Meet Samara Molina: Oil Painter and Upcycler
Samara is a 9th grader who ! Mia has taken classes like Digital Spaces: Photography and Digital Media, Surreal Spaces: Drawing Techniques, and From Earth to Air: Clay Charms. But her favorite so far has been oil painting live models in Figure it Out: Painting the Body.
“I had learned about proportions, paint mixing for skin color, how to organize and create a portfolio, and how everyone has a different way of painting.”

Even though her oil painting skills are what may stand out, Samara can also draw in pencil and ink, and she also works with newspaper and other upcycled materials!
“I can do art with anything. I like using newspaper and other recycled materials to do art.”

Samara also was a participant in Marwen’s Art for the Soul commissioned course, where she created artwork to be featured on custom merch with a limited run, the proceeds from which support Marwen’s free art classes.

Samara says:
“Don’t limit yourself! Do whatever your heart tells you to do.”
Marwen young artists bring boundless creativity and enthusiasm into the studios, and now they can submit their art and ideas to be featured around the building and on social media! Marwen’s Young Artist Spotlight series offers young people an opportunity to promote themselves and their art to the Marwen community and beyond.
Each term (Spring, Summer, and Fall), we will choose one high school and one middle school artist to feature. Young people can submit their work by completing the survey below.
