Meet Ava Vanegas: Multi-Media Maker
Ava is a 6th grader who jumped right in to exploring all that Marwen has to offer! Ava has taken classes like Shutter Stories: Digital Photography, In Stitches: Embroidery for Everyone, and Sketch to Screen: 2D Animation. She hasn’t got a favorite Marwen class so far, but out of everything she’s tried, she is very interested in traditional drawing classes.
“I like just simple pencil and paper plus a big eraser.”

Her enthusiasm is visible every time she steps foot into Marwen. Ava has explored so many different studios so far, so it’s no wonder that she also draws from such a wide source of inspiration!
“I am inspired by music, imagination, other drawings, and practice.”

Ava is a talented fiber artist as well, showing her myriad artistic skills here at Marwen. But she says that one of the newer skills she’s acquired here is learning how to shade her drawings using markers.

If she could give one piece of advice to students new to Marwen, Ava would tell them:
“Trust your heart. it’s your decision, just yours.”
Marwen young artists bring boundless creativity and enthusiasm into the studios, and now they can submit their art and ideas to be featured around the building and on social media! Marwen’s Young Artist Spotlight series offers young people an opportunity to promote themselves and their art to the Marwen community and beyond.
Each term (Spring, Summer, and Fall), we will choose one high school and one middle school artist to feature. Young people can submit their work by completing the survey below.
